Your picks. Your circle.
Privacy, in plain words
This policy describes the new Gwak app, currently in development.
What you give Gwak
When you create an account, Gwak stores your email address, display name, handle, and sign-in details. You can use email and password, Apple, or Google. Passwords are stored as hashes, not readable passwords. Gwak also stores your profile settings, ratings, saved places, notes, dish tips, photos you add, follows, and shares.
Who sees your picks
Your account is private by default. You approve follow requests, or choose a public account so people can follow right away. Accepted followers can see your ratings and want-to-try places. Your email and sign-in details are never shown to other people.
Anyone with an active share link can see the picks in that share, even without an account. “Not for me” ratings are never included. Photos are private unless you choose to share them. You can revoke share links.
How Gwak uses this information
Gwak uses your information to sign you in, save your picks, show your circle’s advice, and open the links you share. Cloudflare delivers one-time email verification and password-reset codes and hosts the website, API, and uploaded photos; PlanetScale stores app data. Apple and Google handle their respective sign-in options.
Usage and crash reports
Gwak records basic usage events, such as a shared link opening or a place being saved, to understand whether the app is useful. These events do not include emails or IP addresses. Search-event locations are rounded to roughly one kilometre.
Sentry receives crash and error reports to help fix problems. Gwak removes emails, sign-in tokens, and other credentials before sending those reports. Gwak does not use advertising, cross-app tracking, or device fingerprinting, and does not sell your personal information.
Delete your account
In the new app, open Settings and choose Delete account. This removes your account and its ratings, notes, photos, follows, shares, and sign-in sessions. If you cannot access your account, email contact@getgwak.com for help.
